1.
Set artwork at 100% printing size
unless otherwise instructed.
2. Please bear in mind that if your poster
is going in a frame then clearance is will be
needed from the edge for text and any other important
information.
3. All colours must be CMYK. We do not print spot
colours. Please note: We cannot print Pantone
colours only their nearest CMYK equivalent as
selected by the software.
4. We cannot colour match to a printed sample
due to the technical issues effecting colour printing.
The main points being that different paper types
hold ink differently and so produce different
shades of the same colour makeup. Also the printer
settings alter the colour makeup, so the same
colour printed on the same machine on the same
paper but one set to 'Stochastic' and the other
as 'Screen' produce two different colours. Also
the different ink types (dye, pigment and solvent)
create colours slightly differently. If your print
is being over laminated this can also effect the
print.
5. It is important to note that the two printing
settings 'Stochastic' and 'Screen', can be used
to your advantage depending on the use of your
print. Stochastic printing has the effect of enhancing
the resolution of the artwork and is particularly
good for close up work. 'Screen' does not look
so good close up but has the effect of making
the image look very sharp when viewed from a distance.
6. Resolution of bitmap images must be 80 dpi
at 100% output size. Please note: Low-resolution
files will printout jagged.
7. Only supply TIFF and EPS files.
8. Jpeg files can print out in black and white
or not at all, so it is best not to use them.
9. All layers must be flattened, extra channels
removed and no compression must be used when saving
the file (i.e. LZW, Jpeg).
10. Please convert all fonts to curves or outlines.
If this cannot be done, please supply both the
screen and printer fonts for the fonts to be used
in the job.
11. We accept 3.5" floppy disks, 100Mb Zip
Disks, 200Mb SyQuest disks and CD's.
12. ISDN: 0161 628 2160 (Please let us know you
are sending files by ISDN and label them clearly
so that they do not get mixed up with other ISDN
jobs.)
13.
Small files up to 1.5Mb can be sent by email:
mail@graphisign.co.uk
14.
Software supported: Illustrator 9, Freehand 9,
CorelDraw 9, and Photoshop 6.
15.
We use both Mac and PC so there should be no problem
with compatibility. The only issue is with fonts,
which, if converted to outline or curves, will
not cause a problem.
16.
Always supply a colour proof so we can check the
layout for missing images and re-flowing text.
17.
Supply all images used so that no errors occur
when printing.
18.
Any files which are not supplied correctly and
it is agreed need studio time to correct will
be charged at £40 per hour.
19.
Re-supplied files will cause a delay to printing,
due to rechecking of the new files. Note: Your
disk checked artwork files can be archived in
our library once the job has been printed for
future reorders, for a £5 archiving fee.
20.
We do not operate a policy of returning supplied
disks.
21.
If no physical full-colour proof is supplied with
your order we will produce the job straight from
your supplied digital data.
Whilst
we always endeavour to match colours as closely
as possible and capture all data when processing
your data for manufacture and printing, in the
absence of a visual reference to work from, we
cannot be held responsible for any discrepancies
between receipt of data and output.
